Daniel Matoušek - tenor

Tenor Daniel Matoušek is an absolvent of the EMA masterclass and the Carangelo Belcanto Academy in Cornuda. He is a guest at the National Theater in Brno, Opernhaus Magdeburg, DJKT in Pilsen or the Moravian Theater in Olomouc. He participated in the iSING festival in China, where he was selected from 2,500 singers from all over the world to participate in 2 performances, 6 concerts and 2 television recordings under the baton of the world conductors. As of the 2022/23 season, Daniel is a member of the National Theatre in Prague.

 

Daniel Matoušek was born in Ústí nad Labem. He is graduate of the European Music Academy under the direction of Wolfgang Scheidt and of Carangelo Belcanto Academy in Cornuda, Italy. Jan Vacík, Antonio Carangelo, Eva Rand and Jarmila Chaloupková were other important mentors when working on his technique. He strives to learn futrther with guidance of Adam Plachetka and Katerina Knezikova. He made his debut in 2014 in Prague National Theatre in Leoš Janáček in the Cunning little Vixen by Ondřej Havelka production. Since that year, he has successively performed at all Czech opera and concert stages (National Theatre Brno, National Moravian - Silesian Theater Moravian Theatre in Olomouc/nominations for the Thalia Award 2019/, J. K. Tyl Theatre in Pilsen, Theatre F.X. Šaldy in Liberec, South Bohemian Theatre in České Budějovice and North
Bohemian Theatre (in his home town Ústí nad Labem).
In 2019 he premiered at the National Theatre Prague in Love for Three Oranges production, hosted at the Opernhaus Magdeburg (Tamino) and took part at iSING festival in China where he was selected from 2500 singers from all over the world. At iSING together with the the world´s conductors and proofreaders he prepared 2 performances, 6 concerts and 2 television productions.

Daniel also made guest appearance at the National Moravian - Silesian Theatre in Bizet´s opera Pearl Hunters whose Nadir earned him a wider nomination for the 2019 Thalia Awards.
In the 2020/2021 season he guest performed at Robert Carsen´s production of Fate at the National Theatre Brno and Barbora Horáková production of Jola The Seven Deadly Sins at the State Opera Prague where he appeared alongside Dagmar Pecková in the lead role. He performed in Carmina Burana and at the world premiere of J. Filase Záhořovo lože filmed for Czech television and radio broadcast. He also sung at International Music Festival Český Krumlov as part of the Mozart Gala alongside with Adam Plachetka. In the same season he also participated in the filming of the Hollywood production of the upcoming movie for 2023,
debuted as Tamino in Miroslav Krobot´s The Magic Flute at the National Theatre in Brno and on New Year´s Eve ´22 he debuted with his program Voglio vivere cosi - Italian songs in his own instrumentation for a symphony orchestra.

As of the 2022/23 season, Daniel is a member of the National Theatre in Prague.
