Daniel Matoušek - tenor

Tenor Daniel Matoušek is an absolvent of the EMA masterclass and the Carangelo Belcanto Academy in Cornuda. He is a guest at the National Theater in Prague, Opernhaus Magdeburg, DJKT in Pilsen or the Moravian Theater in Olomouc. He participated in the iSING festival in China, where he was selected from 2,500 singers from all over the world to participate in 2 performances, 6 concerts and 2 television recordings under the baton of the world conductors.

 

Daniel Matoušek comes from Ústí nad Labem, Czech Republic. He is an absolvent of the "EMA masterclass" (European Academy of Music) under the guidance of Wolfgang Scheidt, Eva Randová or Norbert Baxa and the Carangelo Belcanto Academy masterclass in Cornuda, Italy. He took private classes also with Jan Vacík, Antonio Carangelo or Jarmila Chaloupková.

In June 2013 Daniel gave his first performance in a student production of the University of British Columbia (The Cunning Little Vixen by Leoš Janáček, Rechtor/Komár). In the same year, he debuted at the J. K. Tyl Theater in Pilsen in the role of Tamino (The Magic Flute). In 2014 he made his debut at the National Theater in Prague in Leoš Janáček's The Cunning Little Vixen directed by Ondřej Havelka.

He regularly gives quest performances in the National Theater in Prague (Janacek - The Cunning Little Vixen 2013, Prokofjev - L'amour des trois Oranges 2019, Weill - Seven Deadly Sins 2021), the Northbohemian Theatre in Ústí nad Labem (Tamino/ Magic Flute 2018), J. K. Tyl Theatre Pilsen (Tamino /Magic Flute 2013; L. Janáček/ The Diary of One Who Disappeared 2018; Jeník/ The Batered Bride; Lindoro / The Italian Girl in Algiers 2021), F. X. Šalda Theater in Liberec (Don Ramiro/ La Cenerentola 2018), Opernhaus Magdeburg (Tamino/ Magic Flute 2019), Moravian Theater Olomouc (Fernando de Champlatreux / Mam´zelle Nitouche 2019; Nadir / Bizet – The Pearl Fishers 2020; Jaquino/ Fidelio 2020); the National Theater Brno (R. Carsen: Destiny 2020) and the South Bohemian Theater (Cosi fan tutte 2021). For his role as Nadir at the Moravian Theater in Olomouc, he received a wider nomination for the Thalia Award 2019.

Daniel performed at festivals such as International Music Festival Český Krumlov, Run OpeRun (Prince / Rusalka) and Opera Classica Europa in Germany. In 2019 he participated in the iSING festival in China, where he was selected from 2,500 singers from all over the world and colaborated with pianists and artists from La Scala Milano, MET New York, Berlin Opera House etc. He also performed in musical The Fantom of the Opera in GOJA Music Hall as Ubaldo Piangi.

On the concert stages, he has performed, for example, in the titles of Carmina Burana (Brno Philharmonic, Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra) or in the world premiere of J. Filas' work Záhoř's Bed with the Hradec Králové Philharmonic in 2021.
