Jan Čmejla - piano

Jan Čmejla was born in 2003 in Prague. He has been playing the piano since the age of six, and since his eight years he also has studied composition. Since 2014 he has been a student at the Secondary School and the Music School of the City of Prague. He is the winner of many competitions in the Czech Republic and abroad. He has performed with the Brno Philharmonic and with the Prague Symphony Orchestra. Out of 300 candidates from 49 countries of the world he was chosen among 10 participants at a weekly course of Allianz Junior Music Camp 2015 in Vienna under the guidance of a world-renowned pianist Lang Lang.


 

Jan Čmejla was born in 2003 in Prague. He has been playing the piano since the age of six, and since his eight years he also has studied composition. He got the first musical education at the Music School of Ilja Hurník, where he studied the piano with professor Taťána Vejvodová. Since 2014 he has been a student at the Secondary School and the Music School of the City of Prague, where he continues his piano studies under the guidance of professor Lukáš Klánský.

Jan has had many victories in music competitions, such as Karlovy Vary Rose (2010 and 2013), the International Festival of Joseph Haydn in Vienna (2012), the international competition Virtuosi per musica di pianoforte in Ústí nad Labem (2013), Young pianists in Steinway (2012 and 2013), Prague Junior Note (2011 and 2013), Pro Bohemia Ostrava (2011), the central round of Music School Competitions (2011 and 2014), Golden Strip in composition contest of Music Schools (2013) or the prestigious prize "Golden Nut" (2013) awarded to the most skilful children in the Czech Republic.

In 2014 he became the absolute winner and also the best participant in the 21st year of the international competition of pianists under 11 years Amadeus and got a chance to play with the Brno Philharmonic Orchestra. He is also the recipient of an award granted by the Foundation Fund of an excellent Russian pianist Olga Kern.

In 2015 he performed in the Rudolfinum with the Prague Symphony Orchestra FOK after the successful audition for soloists "Josef Suk's Young Talents"; he won the competition "Chopin for the Youngest" in Poland and was awarded the 1st prize in the International Novak's piano competition. Out of 300 candidates from 49 countries of the world he was chosen among 10 participants at a weekly course of Allianz Junior Music Camp 2015 in Vienna organised by Lang Lang International Music Foundation, based in New York.

In April 2016 he performed in the Concert Hall of the Prague Conservatory in a concert of laureates of the international competition show the Young Piano of the Prague Conservatory 2015 where he won the title "Talent of the Young Piano of the Prague Conservatory" and performed in the cycle of the Music Festival in Prague with Václav Hudeček.
